Located in Taban. West Bali, Alas Kedaton is a small forest and temple (Alas Kedaton Temple). A colony of tame, playful macaque monkeys, the custodians of the temple, freely wander and play in the temple grounds. The area has an air of tranquility and spirituality among the lush greenery and the forest is home to a rich diversity of flora and animals.
A ceremony is performed at the temple every 210 days where members of the local community pray for safety and presperity. The ceremony is unique in that is does not use fire or Penjor and finishes before the sunset.
